Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between a Serger and an overlocker?
The words "Serger" and "Overlocker" refer to the same machine.
A Serger or Overlock machine cuts, overcast, and stitches a seam in one operation. They were first developed for industrial sewing factories and introduced to the home sewing market in the United States in the early 1980's. At that time they were called overlock machines. Subsequently they were referred to as sergers. Most European publications still refer to these machines as on Overlocker.
