Frequently Asked Questions
I'm stitching along and suddenly I get this rat's nest in the bobbin area. Why?
It sounds like the top thread periodically comes out of the tension disk. Here are a few things to try:
1. If the thread is cross wound use the horizontal spool pin. If it is stacked, use the vertical spool pin.
2. Use a thread net on cross wound thread, especially if it is "slippery" thread. The net will help keep the thread from "falling off" the spool.
3. Always thread the machine with the presser foot UP. This insures that the thread seats properly between the tension disks when you put the presser foot down to sew.
4. If you are using the optional presser foot lifter lever, be sure your knee doesn't touch it while sewing. This could affect the top tension.
5. Raise the presser foot, unthread the top thread and using the folded edge of a piece of muslin, "floss" between the tension disks to clean out any excess oil and lint.
