Frequently Asked Questions
How can I improve the quality of my embroidery when sewing out letters?
Lowering the upper tension will help, especially if you can see any bobbin thread on the right side of the fabric. Using the same color thread in both the bobbin and the top of the machine will also give your lettering a more professional appearance.
Always use a stabilizer when stitching lettering. The stabilizer gives the fabric the needed support and will help prevent satin stitch tunneling.
Using a new needle will help to ensure accurate outline placement for those alphabets with an outline.
When changing the size of lettering, consult the Appendixes in the Embroidery software's On-screen (on-line) manual for alphabet sizing minimum and maximum limitations. When using the minimum size it may be necessary to change the underlay stitching to an edge walk stitch to prevent the underlay from peeking out the sides of each letter.
If you are embroidering large lettering in the hoop you may want to change the lettering stitch type in your BERNINA® Embroidery Software. A Fill Stitch or a Fancy Fill Stitch may be more durable than the default Satin Stitch fill.
