Why do I need a second bobbin case for embroidery or bobbin work?
The bobbin case that came with your machine was set by the BERNINA® technician for perfect tension when using regular sewing threads in the needle and bobbin. It is important not to change this tension. You do not want to adjust the tension on this bobbin case.
You should use a separate bobbin case for other techniques. You can then increase or decrease the tension on the extra bobbin and use it for a variety of thicker or thinner decorative threads without affecting your regular bobbin case tension.
The Embroidery Bobbin Case (pigtail, gold latch) or a Black Latch Bobbin Case is ideal for embroidery, decorative stitching and buttonholes and can be purchased from your BERNINA® store.
